Manicure And Pedicure

Manicures and Pedicures are growing in popularity among both men and women.  While many individuals associate spas with long, luxurious treatments that relax both mind and spirit, local day spas offer not only these treatments but also many salon treatments as well.  When visiting for a massage or facial, why not get a manicure or a pedicure?  Many men and women don’t realize just how much our hands and feet are exposed to every day.  People always say you can tell a lot about a person by their hands, those who work hard should take the time to pamper their hands and feet.  Manicures and pedicures are quick, easy treatments that can help to relax the body and rejuvenate the hands and feet.

A manicure is a treatment that is performed on the hands and fingernails; its way more than just getting your nails done.  Manicures will begin with a soak in warm water combined with a softening agent to smooth the skin. Depending on the manicure you may also get a massage of the fingers, hands and forearms.  Once this is complete, your nails will then be filed, shaped and polished.  Some individuals also choose to undergo the application of fake nails. There are two basic types of manicures for nails – fashion manicures and French manicures. The French manicure is very traditional; it features white tips with a natural color nail bed. With fashion nails you can have either artificial tips or forms. Tips can be made of plastic that is glued onto the end of your nail and then acrylic is applied to the entire nail. A form covers the entire nail and is a single piece that is molded to fit your finger. The entire nail can be painted your favorite color.

Pedicures are basically manicures for the feet, but these treatments are much more important than manicures because they can help with the overall health of your feet.  Think about how much you use your feet each and every day, they support your weight most of the day and they get you where you need to go.  Depending on the socks and shoes you wear, your feet can really take a beating; this is why it’s important to take care of them. There are different types of pedicures from a regular traditional pedicure to a French pedicure with nice white tips and pink nail beds. There also are pedicures that include a foot massage with mechanical exfoliants or a treatment with hot wax to help soothe and soften dead skin on your feet. Pedicures at a day spa almost always include some sort of foot pampering from massage to pumice stone to rid yourself of dead skin cells.

If you are ready to try a new day spa, why don't you start with a manicure and pedicure, this could be the perfect way to see if desire more treatments at the spa. It will give you the opportunity to relax and enjoy the pampering your feet and hands desperately need.
